A LUXURY BOUTIQUE WELLNESS HOTEL
The Capra is an alpine lodge that combines five-star luxury with the warm cosiness of a chalet. Located in a spectacular natural setting, The Capra has a unique view of 4,000 m peaks – all visible at a single glance. The car-free Swiss ski resort of Saas-Fee is a favourite among winter sports connoisseurs for its long ski season guaranteed high-quality snow, 300 days of sunshine, and authentic charm.
The Capra is the ultimate place to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature. Expansive suites in warm, earthy tones open up to panoramic views of snow-frosted peaks, pristine valleys, and blue skies.
At The Capra, our philosophy is to instantly make you feel at home – enjoy a drink in the fire-lit lounge, read a book in the snug library, and unwind in our delightful spa. Our restaurant draws inspiration from our alpine surroundings, offering a menu that celebrates local produce and wines.
In addition to all these comforts, The Capra has converted a traditional barn into a ski-in ski-out cabin that allows for carefree access to the mountain’s pistes.
A LUXURY BOUTIQUE WELLNESS HOTEL
Motivated by the desire to escape the hectic life of the city and their love for the mountains, a few years ago, the owners of The Capra set out to find a new home where they could reconnect with nature and spend time with family and friends. After a long search for the perfect location, they found the ideal, pristine setting in the quaint village of Saas-fee in the Swiss Alps.
OUR STORY
Instead of building a house, the owners decided to expand their vision in order to share their experience with other like-minded people. To do so, they converted a small Swiss hotel into a luxury alpine hotel that blends the charm of tradition with modern design.
As well as transforming the hotel’s aesthetics, the owners have incorporated the healthy lifestyle synonymous with Swiss living, emphasizing the “getting back to nature” ethos of the Saas Valley.
The Capra’s name is inspired by the Latin word for mountain goat and by the black-and-white goats that roam the valleys and peaks around Saas-Fee.
Unique to the Valais region, these adventurous creatures reflect the hotel’s authentic sense of respect for nature and the environment. The two-tone goats visually embody the yin yang – a holistic harmony between man and nature, body and mind, which is the hallmark of The Capra.
OUR DESIGN
The Capra’s warm atmosphere complements the traditional village setting and dramatic alpine landscape of Switzerland. Wood-panelled walls, brushed tweeds, and stone bathrooms reflect nature’s colours and textures. Glowing log fires are reflected in crystal ceiling lights, evocative of the sparkling glaciers that are framed in the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
The design of the hotel was undertaken by a group of Swiss architects complemented by a British interior design team with a focus on fusing alpine traditional character with modern luxury. All the furnishings are bespoke, specifically for The Capra. The lighting concept follows the theme of “fire and ice”, creating a contrast that enhances the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.
The result is a timeless classic that captures the relaxed spirit of chalet luxury.

Our Brasserie and Lounge menus focus on making unpretentious dishes that use local and sustainably sourced ingredients. The inspiration for our dishes begins at our own doorstep, the great mountains of the Swiss Alps. Our menu changes with the season and our ingredients are sourced from farmers and artisans who are as passionate about quality as we are. In every dish, we celebrate each ingredient to its fullest potential.
The Wine Cellar -An atmospheric setting for private dining, intimate events, or special celebrations.
The Capra’s wine list includes exciting vintages from established wineries worldwide with a strong emphasis on local wines from the Valais, Switzerland’s foremost wine-growing region. The Valais is also home to the highest vines in Europe, which are located at Visperterminen, 1,100 m above sea level. The three main varieties are Pinot Noir, Chasselas and Gamay.
