DESIGN
The interiors of both The Legian Seminyak, Bali and The Club by The Legian Seminyak, Bali were created by celebrated Indonesian interior designer the late Jaya Ibrahim and typify a chic, understated and locally inspired design style. Born in Yogyakarta, Ibrahim was the son of a Sumatran diplomat and a Javanese princess. His childhood was spent travelling with his parents and living in the Yogyakarta house of his maternal grandmother, absorbing
Javanese culture. He spent 20 years working for Anouska Hempel before returning to Indonesia and establishing a design studio. The Legian Seminyak, Bali was one of his defining solo projects, leading him to design other hotels including The Chedi Muscat, Oman, the Aman Summer Palace, Beijing and The Setai in South Beach Miami. The hotel’s architect is another Indonesian great – Hendra Hadiprana.
