Northern Thailand & The Tuk Tuk Club

Smiles and soul come to mind when Bruce Haxton returns with Honor to talk about his travel business The Tuk Tuk Club.

Described by The Sunday Times recently as ‘the best driving holiday in the world,’ The Tuk Tuk Club gives you a chance to see a side of Thailand that few travellers ever see. Think winding mountain roads, towering forests, elephant camps, jungle cookery, hill tribe stays and so much more!

Just like us here at Low Season Traveller, responsible and ethical travel is in the Tuk Tuk Club’s DNA: everything is run and provided by local people, including a local elephant home which needs your help. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, MaeVang Elephant Home has had no visitors and therefore no income to feed their elephants. MaeVang Elephant Home, is a fantastic small organisation that has been looking after its family of 8 elephants for years. They allow small private groups of visitors, including guests of the Tuk Tuk Club to learn and experience the real beauty of these wonderful animals first hand.

With the aim of raising enough money to feed the elephants and their carers (Mahouts) for 3 months, Bruce is going to cycle, alone, over 2,300km’s in 20 days at the beginning of May 2021 (The height of Thailand’s summer). Low Season Traveller not only supports Bruce’s business but the local communities too and feel it’s important we help in any way we can. If you book a Tuk Tuk Tour through our website, 50% of the profits will go directly to MaeVang Elephant Home. Similarly, you can donate directly through Bruce’s JustGiving page. Any donations are greatly appreciated, thank you.

“Perhaps the coolest ‘eco’ resort in Chiang Mai and recently moved to it’s stunning hilltop location overlooking a small Karen village. The resort exists not only to deliver memorable stays in the mountains of Chiang Mai but to support, develop and train women from the surrounding area. A very special place where every penny you spend goes to the development of the community” – Bruce Haxton.
