Here is the excerpt from Travel & Leisure:
“Marvelous” is how one reader succinctly described the experience at this year’s top hotel. Another said the property has the “best personalized service. Staff is super attentive, and the Bill Bensley design is unique.” The star designer’s efforts are surrounded by small villages, shrines, and acres of green rice paddies in Ubud’s Keliki Valley — another strong point, voters said. A suspension bridge leads guests here to their tented suites, and the interiors have the aura of an old-world explorer’s hideaway — but in the most luxurious way, with teak flooring, vintage steamer trunks, and antique furnishings. Here, guests feel truly immersed in the jungle, with dense forest on all sides and the River Wos rushing below. “It’s a magical experience on the isle of gods,” as one guest said.
Nestled in the heart of lush green forests, our unique tented camp sits in harmony with the surrounding nature. Inspired by the early European settlers from the 1800s, architect Bill Bensley designed Capella Ubud, Bali as a tribute to their spirit of adventure.
Our refined camp is more than a hotel. Constructed within the trees and hidden from afar, it captures the imagination of those who seek a unique experience at the heart of Bali’s untouched natural surroundings. Within the camp are twenty-two one-bedroom tents as well as one two-bedroom lodge, all with private salt water pools.
Our five Terrace Tents overlook the rice terraces and rainforest from large outdoor decks, with daybeds and poolside sun loungers around a salt-water plunge pool. Inside, timeless charm meets sumptuous modern comforts such as the hammered copper freestanding bath and art and antiques from the owner’s private collection.
Scattered around the camp inside the rainforest, our Rainforest Tents have views across the lush surroundings, which can be enjoyed from the outdoor salt water pool and large deck. With some set into the sloping terrain, the proximity to nature and the beauty of Bali is respected with the subtle yet luxurious comforts within the tent.
Looking out to the Wos river, considered a sacred and spiritual place in Ubud, the River Tents are the place to be soothed to sleep by the closeness of nature and the water. Individually styled, each tent is inspired by the vocations of early explorers, enhanced by modern amenities and thoughtful touches including organic bathroom products and beautiful hammered copper baths.
Curl up on a daybed or relax on a poolside lounger next to your saltwater infinity pool. Our five Keliki Valley Tents enjoy unobstructed views across the beautiful valley and rainforest from the large outdoor deck and dining area. Inside, explorer-inspired design and modern comforts are combined to create a private, luxurious sanctuary for our guests.
The Lodge boasts an exotic, oriental Chinese colourscheme and design blended into the terraced landscape The Lodge offers impressive unobstructed, lush green Keliki valley views, an open plan living room, a master bedroom with a king sized bed, a twin bedroom with two double beds, two bathrooms (one featuring a Japanese bath tub and one with a hand-hammered copper bath) and a large wooden deck with two large daybeds.
A private 19 sqm (205ft) private salt water pool further compliments this accomodation that is best suited for an adventurous small family or the well-heeled traveller seeking stylish and lavish accommodation and tranquility amongst untouched surroundings.
Inspired by the spirit of discovery, our Ubud restaurants add an unexpected twist to traditional flavours, influenced by the jungle setting and local heritage. Seasonal, sustainably-farmed ingredients are the priority at Mads’ Lounge, while Api Jiwa cooks up intimate, authentic Asian street food. Enjoy comforting camp snacks around our Camp Fire, as you listen to live storytelling or a nostalgic film.
