Hotel Londra Palace

Hotel Londra Palace

Venice

With its 100 windows overlooking the San Marco basin, the Londra Palace has been the perfect retreat for those who enjoy authentic locations which don’t just conform with current fashions.

The view is always enchanting: choose between the San Marco Basin and the Venetian Lagoon on the one hand, or the historic city’s roofs and bell towers on the other.

The hotel is located on the Riva degli Schiavoni, a few steps from Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs and all the other places which are symbolic of the Venetian Republic, but it is also close to its most hidden and authentic corners.

Our Concierge Clefs d’Or and the reception staff, available 24 hours a day, will be pleased to point them out to you.

Hotel History
The original core of Venice’s Hotel Londra Palace dates back to 1853. It was known first as the Hotel d’Angleterre & Pension and then the Londres. In 1865 the Beau Rivage was built, in neo-Lombardy style, with a connecting link to the Hôtel d’Angleterre. The raising of the old building’s roof in the ’50s and the last and the most recent renovation of the facade and interior public spaces gave the hotel its current appearance.

The name “Londra Palace” dates from the ’70s. The Hotel Londra Palace numbers among its most illustrious guests the Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who composed the first three movements of his Symphony No. 4, originally entitled the “do Leoni”, in room 106 in December “1877”.

Bistrot by Do Leoni
The Bistrot by Do Leoni is a simpler and lighter version of Do Leoni, which however maintains the elegant and quality service of the restaurant, as well as the creativity that distinguishes the cuisine of the chef Loris Indri. Its menu is based on the search for seasonal, territorial and fresh raw materials which includes delicious fish and meat specialties, vegetarian proposals, salads, gourmet sandwiches, “taglieri” a selection of cold cuts and cheese platter, traditional pasta recipes and homemade lasagna. You will also find a rich selection of cooking pot dishes, a technique with ancient origins that allows you to prepare healthy meals without dispersion of nutrients, flavors and aromas.

LondraBar
Our Londrabar has an “ace up his sleeve”: his Head Bartender Marino Lucchetti. The professionalism of Marino can be seen from the proposals of the Londonbar that can be tasted in the veranda in Riva Degli Schiavoni, in front of the marvelous panorama of the suggestive San Marco Basin: coffee of different qualities, numerous mixtures of leaf tea, old recipe chocolates, cocktails with fresh seasonal fruit, important selections of wines and beers.

Our Head Bartender
That the Hotel Londra Palace’s Londrabar is an unmissable stop for those checking out the cocktails in Venice, and is also a unique tasting experience, is due mainly to its Head barman, Marino Lucchetti. An associate member of A.I.B.E.S. since 1996 (the Italian Society for Bartenders and Sponsors) and an I.B.A. Barman since 2007, he is known for the elegance and style with which he presents classical and contemporary reinterpretations of traditional cocktails.

He is also known for his own original mixtures, the result of his creative flair and of his long career in London and in the most prestigious Italian 5 Star hotel. Fascinated by bartenders as a child, he could not understand how they could possibly remember more than three cocktail recipes. Today he knows at least a hundred and smiles fondly at the memory.
